The Practices of Community: Mission
Mission

The KC Boiler Room is committed to being:
A missional community existing for the incarnation and proclamation of the gospel to all people. To act as well as to pray.

We hold Jesus in the highest esteem, and believe that His way of life really is the only way to life itself. The reality of incarnation unlocks the central meaning of mission. We see that God left the safety and perfection of heaven to be with us and become like us. Jesus put on flesh, limiting himself to locality, particular culture and language, all for the sake of love. He identified with us completely experiencing the pressures, temptations and limitations of our frail frame. He came to us humbly as a servant to meet us right where we are. His mission ultimately led him to the lonely place of crucifixion at the hands of the very people he came to love. This is the good story (gospel); God made flesh, crucified and raised from the dead all for our sake, for our life, for our redemption. This love compels us towards our classmates, co-workers, and even the remote nations and cultures of the earth. It compels us to share in action and word the greatest story we’ve heard about the most glorious man we’ve every known. It beckons us not to be arrogant but to likewise lay our lives down for the world through identifying ourselves with others, listening, serving and even suffering if necessary. Our hope is that the whole world would know the one we treasure the most, Jesus.

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.” Jn. 3:16-17

“For we cannot help speaking about what we have seen and heard.” Acts 4:20

“Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Matt. 28:18-20
