The KC Boiler Room is committed to being:
A learning community of training and discipleship, where people are growing in their faith, their life-skills and their ability to lead.
Jesus didn’t call the most predictable group of disciples, but perhaps the most teachable ones. We want to be a learning community-people who press on from the elementary teachings of Christ into maturity, ever in the process of transformation. We believe that Jesus taught primarily through experience, so we’re doing our best to grow in classrooms, living rooms, even boiler rooms… and in all aspects of every day life. This is called discipleship, the narrow path of not only hearing his words, but putting them into action.
Humility is the essential requirement for life long learners. We take the posture of dependency on Jesus seeking to continually lean into his grace in everything that we do. We affirm that Jesus is being formed in all who believe as the “treasure in jars of clay.” So it is not only from God directly that we learn but from one another. When we can suspend our biases and self consumed thoughts to generously listen to one another, we discover the treasure of Jesus gloriously hiding inside normal vessels. Jesus’ challenge is to learn from all people young and old and from every circumstance that life brings us.
“Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” Matthew 11:29-30
