Family...what a provocative word. It couches the hopes we imagine and the hurts we’ve received. But it is the foundation of the nature of God, and the familiar way of the Kingdom.

We understand that our use of language is culture creating, where we fill our imagination with our best thoughts about who we are in light of who God is. You’ll hear this theme throughout the life of our relationships as we grow and mature, through a patient grace-filled process, of living into this inviting but fearful word...Family.

“What’s good for the family is good for the kingdom.” This mantra guards our marriages and governs our parenting as we look to establish healthy relating between husbands and wives, parents and children. The health and quality of life in our families will set pace for the health and quality of our spiritual family. Like gravity generated from sun, our marriages in communion with Christ, filled with His light and oneness, create the center by which all other relationships orbit in healthy sustainable rhythms.

Community houses have become one of the ways we express kingdom family. A variety of extended family households have been established and characterize our life together. The recovery of the home as the place where we best learn the familiar ways of being in a spiritual family is our way forward. This reads romantically, but lives sacrificially. The home is where we daily apply the pastoral encouragements and exhortations of Paul’s letters to our relationships, as we live into the beautiful functional family the Father is giving us as a portion of our inheritance.
