December 2007

Hello!

We have been in Cape Town, South Africa for a little over a year – wow! What a year. So much has happened! We are blown away by God's goodness…….

• There are several "micro churches" that have been started among the poor in disadvantaged communities where our team is working. Eleven young men who are new believers are in training to start more churches! Another simple church community has been started in Ocean View - they are on an outreach this weekend up north!

• We have rented a very small, three room "house" in Masiphumelele, the poorest community we work in – 80% of the people live in shacks in this community. We are using the house as a drop-in center, place for Bible studies for new believers, and a drop-off place for "throw away" babies. Many unwanted babies are left to die every month on garbage heaps.

• A great team of 25 people have joined us full time. We are all working with a common vision toward a network of simple church communities of new believers that impact their friends and neighbors, and who celebrate together on a regular basis.

• Over 80 people have applied for CPx – our 6 month leadership and church planting training program, starting February 2nd.

• We have hosted 15 short-term teams in the last year – all of whom have stayed in the "Africa Outreach House" – the house we leased such teams. They have been a huge blessing.

On a personal note, we were able to move into our own home in August after living out of suitcases for 15 months. We are so blessed and pleased to have our own place!

Sally and I are deeply contented and profoundly challenged – all at the same time. We feel we should give the rest of our lives to advocate for the poor, train leaders to do holistic church planting, and send a new generation of African leaders north into Africa/Middle East and east into Asia to start church planting movements among the unreached and the poor.

We have a request to put before you: would you prayerfully consider a year end gift to help us? Thank you for your prayer and your financial support as we continue to pioneer and oversee our ministry. We have lost a significant percentage of our monthly income due to the falling dollar value. A one-time gift or a monthly commitment right now would be a huge encouragement - thank you!

Yours,

Floyd and Sally McClung

Why Africa?

It is Africa's hour: Africans are rising up in great numbers to take hold of the promises of God for their continent. The president of South Africa, Thabo Mbeki, says there is an African renaissance in the making. Everywhere you turn you find a spirit of entrepreneurship and vision for new things. read more
